Many churches have carpet or carpet tiles throughout the sanctuary and fellowship areas. It’s often chosen for its affordability and variety of options. And, carpet helps with sound absorption. However, it stains easily and has a shorter life expectancy than many commercial flooring materials. If you’re reflooring or remodeling your entire church or building a new one, you might consider a quality luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) option for at least some portions of your facility.
Many Options
LVF comes in both tile (LVT) and plank (LVP) options. That means you can find something that mimics hardwood or looks like marble or a modern tile. There are many color options as well. The options allow you to create a look and feel you want in different areas of your church from a children’s area with bright welcoming colors to the prayer room with a muted and soft option.
Ease of Maintenance
Luxury vinyl flooring requires nothing more than mopping. And, because it’s mostly waterproof, you don’t need to worry so much about rainy footsteps. There’s no grout to clean either!
Acoustically Friendly
Whether you have contemporary services or a more traditional one, you want it to sound great from the first note to the final prayer. LVF products don’t muffle the sound like carpet nor reflect like some of the harder materials such as tile. And, when parishioners walk in and out, it’s not nearly as loud as laminate or tile.
Affordability
Although luxury vinyl flooring isn’t the cheapest option, it’s far from the most expensive either. If you want the look of hardwood, LVP is a less expensive option. LVT can mimic natural stone without the high cost of both the product and installation. And if you thought you wanted traditional porcelain or ceramic tile, LVT has options you’ll love (with no grout to clean).
Is Luxury Vinyl Flooring Right for Every Space and Every Church?
Although we’re installing more LVF in churches than ever before, it’s not the option every church chooses or what ends up in every room in the facility. Luxury Vinyl Flooring also has its downsides.
